Northwood was favoured to beat Glenwood in the clash of the 1st XVs on Reece-Edwards Field on Saturday, and it looked as if they would cruise to victory when they built up a 19-0 half-time lead.
The Green Machine, though, is renowned for its fighting spirit and they demonstrated that in the second half. The Knights struck first, though, to increase their advantage to 31-0, and it looked all over bar the shouting.
Glenwood, however, staged a furious fightback and brought it back to 31-24, but it was a little too late and the home team took the win.
Northwood reigned in the open age group and at u16 level, although Glenwood snatched victory in the u16A game. The u15A win went Northwood’s way, however, and they enjoyed the better of the results in that age group.
Glenwood picked up a hard-fought u14A win, and took four of five u14 games.

The Northwood 1st XI picked up a Friday Night Lights 4-0 victory over Glenwood as they dominated on the turf against their opponents from the south of Durban.
Glenwood’s u16A team broke up a clean sweep, however, holding Northwood to a 1-1 draw.
