Northwood third in Bloem, Glenwood seventh, YouTube highlights

Northwood bagged a deserved bronze medal at the ITEC Grey College Water Polo Tournament on Sunday, while Glenwood snatched a thrilling one-goal victory over Stirling High School to finish in seventh spot.

The Knights had established a clear case that they were the third best team at the event by giving the finalists, Selborne College and Affies, a tough time when they met, with Selborne defeating Northwood 8-5 on Saturday, and Affies edging the Durban school 10-8 on Friday.

Up against Grey High School in their playoff game, Northwood recorded a 7-4 victory to finish a strong third.

Glenwood had endured a tough day on Saturday when they were well beaten by Grey College, Grey High and Affies, all of whom who would go on to finish inside the top five.

On Sunday, though, they showed fine character to withstand Stirling’s challenge and edge a 21-goal thriller.

In a repeat of the 2023 final, Selborne College beat Affies to lift the title. They won 11-5 last year and this time around their winning margin was 12-8

The hosts, Grey College, held off Jeppe, claiming a 10-8 victory, to finish fifth. Pretoria Boys High outplayed Pearson 13-5 to secure ninth place.
