WATER POLO
With a healthy crowd in attendance in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, Maritzburg College’s 1st water polo team sped into a big lead against Glenwood, and it looked as if a rout was on. Credit to the Durban boys, though, they kept their composure and fought back well to ensure that the game became a contest. Ultimately, College won comfortably, but the Green Machine showed their renowned fight.
College were convincing winners in the under-16A match, but Glenwood made it tough on the hosts before going down in the under-14A clash.

BASKETBALL
The Maritzburg College 1st team is, undoubtedly, one of the top basketball sides in South Africa, and they’re an extra tough challenge when they’re in action at home in front of their vocal supporters. Glenwood’s 1st team was reminded about that on Saturday, when College came close to putting up 100 points in a one-sided win.
Glenwood’s under-16 B team produced a valiant effort in their game, and came closest to upsetting their College opponents, but the Pietermaritzburg school produced a clean record of wins from top to bottom.

CRICKET
Glenwood’s 1st XI is the most unpredictable team in KwaZulu-Natal, capable of brilliance one week and then very average performances the next. After destroying a strong Hilton College team two weeks ago, they were easily beaten by Westville last week, and on Saturday in Pietermaritzburg they were crushed by College, who roared to victory in double-quick time.
It would have been a clean record for College had it not been for Glenwood’s under-14 B team, who recorded a handsome win over their Maritzburg counterparts.
