Given the powerful winds blowing in from the south, it was a wonder that the scores between DHS and Maritzburg College looked relatively normal.
In the showdown between the two 1st teams, DHS got off to a strong start, but College, with a smothering defensive effort, slowed the home side’s scoring and chipped away at a narrow deficit to finally edge ahead and then stay out in front to the end.
Overall, it was a good day of even competition, with Maritzburg College winning 10 games and DHS six.

Cricket
Although Maritzburg College enjoyed a better day overall than DHS, it was the home team that claimed the honours in the 1st XI match, knuckling down to secure a treasured win.
There was an astonishingly big win for the Horseflies’ 3rd XI, too, especially when considering that College sprinted to one-sided wins in the 4th XI and 5th XI games.
At u15A and u14A level, College ruled, although their u15B victory was a true nail-biter.
