Symmetry is a nice thing, especially if you’re part of the DHS football programme. Firstly, it was the 1st XI who claimed silverware in the Empangeni High School and DUT Social Cohesion Football Tournament in August, and now the under-15 team has emulated their seniors by winning the Empangeni High School Football Tournament.
The Horseflies also produced the Player of the Tournament and the Goalkeeper of the Tournament in the 1st team event, and they again repeated that achievement when Connor Quinn was named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Christopher Abrahams picked up the Player of the Tournament Award.

Hard-fought competition
It was very tight throughout, but School showed big match temperament to lay claim to the title. They opened with a 2-2 draw against Sphumelele, followed that up with a 2-1 win over Khombindlela, and then were involved in another 2-2 draw, this time against Old Mill.
That put the Durban boys into a semi-final showdown with the hosts, Empangeni. Neither side managed to score in regulation time, which sent the contest to the penalty spot. Even then, next to nothing separated the two sides, with School eventually triumphing in a sudden death shootout by six goals to five.
In the final, DHS faced Old Mill again. Once more they drew, but it was 1-1 in the title-decider.
Then it was time for some more BMT as DHS secured victory from the penalty spot by a 3-1 margin.
