Northwood’s footballers made the short drive to Durban High School on Saturday to face the Horseflies, who made good use of home ground advantage to enjoy the better of the day’s clashes.
They managed 1st team, under-15 A and under-14 A wins, but the visitors claimed the honours in the under-16 A game, with that age group being particularly hard-fought. In four matches, DHS outscored Northwood 5-4, taking two wins to one, with the other contest ending in a draw.
The under-15 results tilted the way of DHS, but there were two wins apiece for the schools in the under-14 age group.
Both DHS and Northwood appear to have particularly gifted sportsmen at the under-14 level through all of the major sports, and they have both already proved themselves to be formidable against national opposition, too. As they move up through the age groups, they’ll bear close watching.
