Hilton College host Michaelhouse on Gilfillan Field on Saturday, 17 June, in an eagerly awaited rematch between two of KZN’s leading 1st XVs of 2023.
In fact, Hilton is unbeaten in the province this season. Meanwhile, Michaelhouse’s sole loss – a 17-20 defeat – came at the hands of their great rivals. However, in that match, ‘House had a penalty five metres out and directly in front of the posts, with time almost up. They could have accepted a draw, but they went for a win.
A heroic goal-line stand earned Hilton a very hard-fought victory.
Michaelhouse is still one victory short of a 100th win over Hilton, having last won the 1st XV game in 2016. Hilton is on 96 wins, while there have been 10 draws.
Even the cumulative totals are remarkably close, with Michaelhouse on 2 456 points and Hilton on 2 342.
So, who is going to taste victory on Saturday? Kick-off is at 14:00.
