DHS chess players shine in Umhlali Tournament

While DHS has been cooking up a storm on rugby fields and hockey Astros around KZN in 2023, the school’s rich tradition of excellence in chess is continuing.

A recent top showing at the Umhlali Tournament showed that School, which has over the years proved itself to be one of the best at chess in South Africa, remains a powerhouse on the chequered board.

The Umhlali event was played over five rounds, with three DHS boys excelling. David Snyman tied for first with five points. Rikhil Reuben also scored five points, and Kiaran Sewnarain was just behind them, on 4.5.

Further strong performances were recorded by Chen Yanzuo, Diego Miglietti and Shivay Munien, who each scored three points.

School also visited Eden College, where they recorded a 9-1 victory.
