The aQuellé Tour Durban took to the roads of Durban and the north coast on the weekend, with the road races covering distances of 28km, 42km and 110km. It’s a huge logistical undertaking, but Northwood boys were on the route to help participants handle the challenges.
In support of the Domino Foundation – Domino Foundation – Change a life, change a community – they set up a refreshment station near the Virginia Airport, providing an inviting selection of tasty treats for the cyclists.
Football for Fairhavens
The Northwood 1st football team is also supporting the Domino Babies Home through Sport for Lives. People can back the football team and the Babies Home, known as Fairhavens, either through one-time donations, or by pledging support for each goal the side scores during the season.
Fairhavens is a transition home in Durban North, caring for abandoned babies and toddlers in distress, from new-borns to five-year-olds. More than 160 children have benefitted from the home’s support already.

Westville backing feeding programmes

Chic Mamas Do Care – https://www.chicmamasdocare.org/ – are mothers around South Africa who work together to do something about poverty and the lack of quality early childhood education.
They have a shop in Westville, at 2 Cedar Road, and other outlets in Hout Bay, Wynberg and Linden. The shops welcome “’boutique label’ quality clothing that are in excellent condition as donations”. This enables them to sell fashionable items to fund the causes they back. They also accept monetary donations.
Among the causes that the Westville branch of Chic Mamas supports are the Umzamo Day Care Centre Preschool and Creche, the House of Hope Preschool and Creche, and the Zamokuhle Preschool and Creche. They also back the Teacher Training Caversham Education Institute and Entrepreneurial Project Jumble Bags.
Westville Boys’ High’s neighbours, Kearsney College, are supporting the Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre – https://ethelbert.co.za/.
People are able to make one-time donations or pledge support for the Kearsney 1st XV for every try they score, with the Queensburgh-based facility set to benefit.
