Maritzburg College has announced that Reginald Rose’s “Twelve Angry Men” will be performed as part of the school’s 160th anniversary celebrations.
The production will be presented from 9 to 15 March at 19:00 in the Victoria Hall, with a matinee performance taking place on 12 March at 14:00.
It’s a one-act play, performed on a single set – a court room (or rather jury room) drama, which was originally envisioned as a television production.
The story centres around a jury of 12, who are deliberating whether or not a young man must face the death penalty for the killing of his father.
During the course of the back-and-forth discussions and arguments much is revealed about the jurors themselves. It’s intense and that’s why the Victoria Hall was chosen as the venue for the production, to allow for a close intimacy as the tension increases and the drama unfolds.
Tickets for Twelve Angry Men are available at R70 each. For more information, please email bookings@mcollege.co.za or call 033 – 342 9376.
