Maritzburg College welcomed the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) onto the school’s campus last week for a blood donation clinic which, the SANBS acknowledged in a letter, had realised 115 units.
Covid-19 put a massive dent into the resources of the SANBS, especially where schools, one of the richest sources of donations are concerned, so it has been pleasing to see schools, like College, very strongly backing donor clinics once more.
Where larger communities are concerned, among them schools, the SANBS will set up mobile clinics to make the donation process simpler and more effective. Congratulations to those schools who are, once again, donating regularly to the SANBS, so that people in desperate need of blood may live.
Remember, always, a single donated united can save up to three lives. With 115 units donated, Maritzburg College boys have, theoretically, saved up to 345 lives, and impacted many family members of the people helped.
