Congratulations to Glenwood on recently hosting a very successful blood donation clinic. The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) relies on donations for patients in need and, with 133 units, the boys in green made a notable contribution when the SANBS recently visited the school.
Blood stocks are always at a low level. At the time of writing, the SANBS had B+ stocks available for five days, and O+ for 3.1 days. Its goal is “to maintain a blood stock level of five days for each blood group to ensure sustained blood availability for patients in need.”
Saving lives
Each donation can save up to three lives. The impact those donations can have, not only on people whose lives are saved, but on their families, is immeasurable and priceless.
The successful clinic was organised Mrs Blamey and her Blood Buddies team. What a great job of living up to the school’s motto of “Nihil Humani Alienum”, which means “Nothing that concerns humanity is unimportant to me”.
