Michaelhouse athlete, Ruben Visage, who is in grade 11, was in action at the Athletics South Africa (ASA) League meeting held at the Pietermaritzburg Athletics Stadium on Saturday, 28 January.
Despite competing in very challenging 34-degree Celcius heat, the former Highbury Prep boy excelled, claiming victories in both the 800 metres and 1 500 metres.
He clocked 2:03 in the 800 metres and then did even better in the 1 500 metres, taking victory in 3:59, which qualified him for the SA Nationals.
Ruben has previously been crowned KwaZulu-Natal champion in his age group over 1 500 metres.
