WATER POLO

On Saturday, at Hilton College, Hilton coach Paul Martin got one over his former school by guiding his charges to an 11-7 win. He joined the Midlands’ school at the beginning of 2025 after spending the past decade at Clifton.

Clifton is still transitioning to Pierre le Roux‘s leadership after the former Kearsney College coach arrived in South Africa from New Zealand in early January, but they gave a good account of themselves, and they’re clearly making progress under his leadership.

It was 7-7 late in the contest when Hilton turned to some of their big guns, including KZN Schools’ players Mitch Garreau, captain Thomas Taylor (feature photo), and SA Schools’ star Tristan Uys to see them through.

Overall, the visitors enjoyed a good day, winning four matches to Hilton’s three, with one game, surprisingly, finishing in a goalless stalemate.

Clifton claimed the u15A win and Hilton was victorious in the u14A game.
