The class of 2024 continues Kearsney’s academic excellence

In the IEB matric results, which were released on Monday, Kearsney College’s Jack White and Ryan Browning achieved distinctions in all eight subjects they wrote. They both placed on the IEB’s Commendable List of pupils in the top five percent across the country in five subjects and were in the top one percent in South Africa in three subjects.

Overall, a remarkable 20 percent of Kearsney boys achieved four or more distinctions. In addition, 65% of the class achieved an A or B aggregate.

Kearsney, also, maintained its 100% pass rate, with 98.5 percent achieving a Bachelor Degree pass (university endorsement).

Kearsney delivers superb IEB results

Jack White, who was Kearsney’s dux last year, achieved 90 percent for English, 95 percent for geography, 92 percent for history, 92 percent for isiZulu, 84 percent with life orientation, 99 percent for mathematics, 95 percent for physical sciences, and 94 percent for calculus.

He finished in the top one percent in the country in mathematics, physical sciences and geography; and he also captained Kearsney’s second cricket team last season.

Runner-up dux and 1st team opening bowler Ryan Browning (right, in feature photo with Jack White) also achieved outstanding results – 84 percent for Afrikaans, 90 percent for English, 98 percent for history, 87 percent for life orientation, 89 percent for life sciences, 98 percent for mathematics, 94 percent for physical sciences 94%, and 82 percent for calculus. He was in the top one percent in South Africa in mathematics, physical sciences and history.

Four learners – Luhlelo Sibisi, Matthew Lamplough, Julian Carbonel and Matthew Shepherd – received seven distinctions each. Bryce Blomquist, Jasper Bruno, Finn Calenborne, Brandon Haley, Matthew Huson and Pranav Sewsunker picked up six distinctions, while Luca Borrageiro, Guy Carpenter, Lee Woojae, Lwandile Nzala, and Evan Powers received five each.

Apart from Jake White and Ryan Browning, a number of other Kearsney boys ranked in the top one percent of learners nationally in individual subjects, including Matthew Lamplough (English and history), Finn Calenborne (engineering graphics and design) and Max Buchan (history).

Headmaster Patrick Lees said Kearsney’s number one priority remains academic excellence.
