Kearsney College defends the St John’s Rams T20 title they won at the first time of asking in 2023 when Zimbabwe’s leading cricket-playing schools take on Kearsney, Clifton and Maritzburg College over the course of three days in Harare, from 13-15 September.

Clifton has been a regular at the event, Zimbabwe’s most prestigious T20 festival, since 2014, while it will be a first visit for Maritzburg College.
It’s a competition that has proved challenging for South African teams to win due to the adjustment to Zimbabwean wickets and the quality of the opposition.
Westville Boys’ High, who finished as the runners-up to Kearsney last year, were subjected to some of that quality in their first outing last year, when they received a rude welcome from Wise Owl, with the school from Marondera romping to a nine-wicket victory as they chased down the 166 they needed with two overs to spare.
The Griffin avenged that loss in the semi-final, however, bowling out Wise Owl for only 61, on their way to a six-wicket victory. In the final, though, it was Kearsney’s day as they powered their way to a 35-run win.
Clifton, meanwhile, was done in by a slow start. They finished strongly, however, with wins over Peterhouse and Falcon College.
Besides the challenges posed by the opposition, the St John’s Rams T20 is also a high-pressure environment, with each match having to be completed within three hours, and sometimes there are only 10 minutes between games.
On top of that, this year, for those who are superstitious, the event starts on Friday, the 13th.
