MICHAELHOUSE VS KEARSNEY

After a stuttering showing at the Primo Big 10, Kearsney College‘s 1st football team showed off their character with a battling 1-1 draw against Michaelhouse in Balgowan on Saturday.
‘House enjoyed a better run at the Primo Big 10, reaching the semi-finals before they were eliminated in a penalty shootout by Durban High School (DHS).
Playing away from home, Kearsney was caught cold in the early going, with Michaelhouse snatching a speedy lead as the visitors struggled to convert chances into goals.
The contest, then, became a grinding affair, fought out mostly in the midfield, with changes of possession occurring regularly. Kearsney, though, eventually found a way through, with Simnene Kubheka slotting an equaliser.
In the end, the teams had to settle for a share of the spoils. Both had their chances to win.
Astonishingly – and congratulations to both schools – they played 30 matches against one another, while Kearsney added a further two against Kloof High School.

HILTON COLLEGE VS WESTVILLE BOYS’ HIGH
At Hilton College, the host’s 1st XI claimed a 3-2 victory over Westville Boys’ High on Zungu Field.
The Griffin played some very good football, but, as has been their challenge this season, they, at times, lacked penetration in the last quarter of the field. Hilton did well to take their opportunities.
