The Northwood 1st XV, beaten 36-14 by Maritzburg College in 2023, turned the tables on their Old Boys’ Weekend, winning 20-10 on Reece-Edwards Field on Saturday after a bruising battle.
Siya Nkosi, Man of the Match on their Old Boys’ Weekend last year, repeated the feat.
The Northwood 2nd XV has enjoyed a fine season and they added another win to their record, beating College by seven. College’s famed depth came through lower down the open age group results. Overall, they won four, Northwood took two wins, and a game was drawn.
College swept the u16 matches, but Northwood won the u15A and u14A games. They also won three, lost two and drew one at u16 level, but College, after a two-point loss in the u14A match, swept the other four games.

HOCKEY
It was a memorable day for Northwood as they claimed the scalp of College at home. Their skipper James Read was named the Man of the Match, making it twice in two years on Northwood’s Old Boys’ Weekend.
There was little to separate the sides in the open age group. In the four games, there was never more than a goal in it.
A cracking eight-goal u16A match went Northwood’s way by two goals, and they won by the odd goal in the u14A clash, which produced five goals.
