The inaugural Clifton T20, played in mid-February, was very well received, Clifton’s Director of Cricket, Brandon Scullard said, ahead of the release of a highlights video of the event put together by SuperSport Schools.
Feedback from the participating schools was very positive, he added: “They loved the idea. They enjoyed the format, the coloured kit, the opportunity to set foot on the Clifton campus, which a lot of the schools hadn’t done before. There was a lot of great feedback from the staff and boys, who were able to see what Clifton actually looks like.
On the field, he said the games were tightly contested, and the standard of cricket was high.

Spectators, too, appreciated the music at the ground and the atmosphere. “The MCs and the DJs did a really good job,” Scullard said, “and the activations and the contributions from the sponsors added to that, too.”
The targets that were set for the corporate sponsors were met, he continued, and live coverage of the event by SuperSport Schools exceeded Clifton’s expectations.
The new event, which is set to become an annual highlight on the KZN schools’ cricket calendar, introduced an innovative, fun and entertaining new competition to KZN’s leading teams, and the introduction of silverware offered an exciting incentive beyond the traditional derby matches.
