HOCKEY
Pape’s Astro was the venue for a Friday Night Lights clash between the Maritzburg College and St Charles College first hockey teams. Last season, the sides drew 1-1 at Saints. This time around, Saints were seeking a first ever victory on Pape’s.
College, however, controlled the first half and went two goals up, with Julian Konigkramer, who is enjoying a fine season up front, netting the first.
The second half was more evenly contested. College had an opportunity to extend their lead when they were awarded a penalty stroke, but it was saved, and Saints pulled one back with eight minutes to go. They couldn’t find another to rescue a draw, though, and College secured a victory.
Almost all of the results went the Red, Black and White‘s way, but the majority of the games were tightly contested.

RUGBY
While the Maritzburg College’s 1st XV, u16A and u14A teams did duty at the Absa Wildeklawer, and the St Charles College 1st XV, u16A, u15A and u14A sides competed at the Standard Bank Grey High Rugby Festival respectively over the weekend, a number of rugby fixtures took place between the schools on Saturday.
