Westville looked as if they were on their way to a comfortable win over Glenwood when they opened up a 20-3 lead over the visitors on Bowden’s on Saturday. But the Green Machine‘s fighting spirit revealed itself and they made a real game of it.
They came roaring back into the contest, closing the gap and, in the end, there were only three points in it as the Griffin held on for a 35-32 victory.
Glenwood has a very young team this year, but they’re making serious strides. The improvement is plain to see, and with most of the players set to run out for the Green Machine next season, too, something strong is brewing down in the south of Durban.
Up and down the age groups, the competition was terrifically competitive. In the seven u19 matches, Westville won four to three. At u16 level, the schools won two apiece.
In the five u15 games, it finished two wins each and one draw, and Westville came out on top in the u14 age group by four wins to one.

HOCKEY
It was a solid day for Westville’s hockey teams, who constructed a perfect 12 out of 12 record, which included a 5-0 victory for the 1st XI.
In the closest game of the day, the Griffin won the u16A clash 4-2.
Westville’s u14A team continued its impressively dominant season with a runaway win, confirming, yet again, that they have a very special collection of talent in that age group.
