Westville, DHS enjoy a strong day at the Coastal Cup

Day two of the Coastal Cup gave the teams a bit of a breather – they all played only once. Westville continued a very impressive run in the u14 age group, while DHS remained unbeaten at u16 level, and Westville and DHS recorded a third successive victory at 1st team level.

Westville’s u14s, who beat both Pearson and Paarl Boys’ High 4-0 on Friday, doubled-up on Saturday, pounding Waterkloof 8-0.

DHS, who drew with St Alban’s College on Friday and edged out Garsfontein, eased to a 3-0 win over Menlopark, but Clifton went down 2-4 to St Alban’s.

Glenwood scored a big win, rolling to a 4-0 victory over Garsfontein

The DHS u16 side repeated their u14s’ 3-0 scoreline against Menlopark. On Friday, they had rattled off a 5-1 win over St Alban’s and had also beaten Garsfontein 2-1.

Westville drew 1-1 with Waterkloof, while Clifton fell 1-2 to St Alban’s and Garsfontein handled Glenwood, winning 3-0. The Pretoria side also beat Glenwood 3-0 at 1st team level.

In other 1st team games, DHS beat Menlopark 2-1, but they would have expected a more emphatic win. Westville showed how to do it, racing to a 4-0 victory over Waterkloof. They have yet to concede in the Coastal Cup.

Clifton were off their game against St Alban’s and suffered a 0-3 loss.

Pearson earned the biggest 1st team victory of the day, seeing off Paarl Boys’ High 5-0.
