BASKETBALL
The Maritzburg College 1st basketball team marched into Balgowan and had few difficulties dealing with Michaelhouse. College’s athleticism is unmatched and their defensive pressure next level and, when they find their rhythm, they’re tough to stop. No question, they are one of the best teams in the country.
College won the u16A match, but Michaelhouse took the u15A and u14A victories. Overall, College shaded the results, but Michaelhouse took wins in every age group.

CRICKET
Lightning brought the match on the Roy Gathorne Oval between the Michaelhouse and Maritzburg College 1st XIs to an end after College had completed their 50 overs.
The visitors tallied 165/8, with Michael Gibson making 44 from 67 balls, which included just two fours. No other batsmen scored more than one four as Michaelhouse surrendered a miserly six in total.
College opening batsman Llewelyn Sutherland weighed in with a dogged 33 from 82 deliveries, while Chad Mason worked hard for his 29 from 76 balls.
Jean-Luc Rey led the home side’s bowlers, capturing 2/24 from 10 overs, while Nicholas Baker picked up 1/4.

The weather affected many games, but College picked up two open age group wins. Only one u16 match was completed, but it went Michaelhouse’s way.
Just two u15 games were completed, with ‘House winning the u15D match, but the contest of the day belonged to the u15 C teams, who played to rare tie.
With rain and lightning again affecting the u14 matches, Michaelhouse claimed two wins to one.

WATER POLO
Unfortunately, an afternoon thunderstorm put paid to the 1st team water polo game. College, though won the 2nd team clash, but Michaelhouse won two open age group matches, with another finishing all square.
‘House won the junior age groups games, although they were pushed hard in a number of them.
