After middling performances on day one of the Hussar Grill SACS Water Polo Tournament, the KZN contingent of four schools produced the goods in no uncertain terms on day two, Sunday, with Clifton College leading the way.
Not only did Clifton win all four of their outings, they also handed SACS their only defeat of the tournament thus far. SACS, of course, recently won the Clifton Water Polo Tournament, with Paul Roos Gymnasium in second place and Clifton finishing third.

Pool A standings
SACS remain top of Pool A, with seven wins from their eight matches, and Bishops, in second, sport a similar record, but Clifton is up to third, with six victories in eight games – both defeats being by 2-3 margins on Saturday – and they’re looking strong.
Their results on Sunday included a narrow 3-2 victory over Kearsney College. Kearsney scored an impressive 3-2 win over Grey High and beat Saint Alban’s, but they also went down to Bishops.
Pool B standings
Paul Roos retained their position at the top of the Pool B standings, but they lost their perfect record on Sunday after sharing a 3-3 draw with Hilton College.
The boys from the KZN Midlands enjoyed a very good day, adding two wins to their draw with the Stellenbosch school and, like Clifton, they’re up to third in their pool. Second place belongs to Saint John’s, who suffered their first defeat, falling 3-4 to Paul Roos.
Northwood won two and lost two, beating Pretoria Boys High and Selborne College, but going down to Rondebosch and Saint John’s.
Playoffs
The last of the pool games will be played on Monday morning, with the playoffs beginning from 10:40, and the final taking place at 14:30. The most eye-catching pool fixture is that between SACS and Bishops, and Clifton will, no doubt, hope the result, however it may go, allows them to move up the Pool A standings.
