Michaelhouse set for inaugural u14 Basketball Invitational

Michaelhouse will host its inaugural Under-14 Invitational Basketball Tournament on 6-7 October, with 12 teams set to test their skills against one another in the beautiful springtime surrounds of the KZN Midlands.

House will field A and B teams, as will Kearsney College and Saint John’s College, while the remainder of the line-up includes Hilton College, Northwood, the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School, Saint Charles College, Durban High School (DHS), and St Stithians College.

Based on the performances of teams at the recent Kearsney Independent Schools Stayers’ Tournament, the local lads should expect a tough challenge from their out of province visitors.

The event is also an opportunity for the youngest high school age group to experience tournament basketball in a similar vein to the aforementioned Kearsney tournament.

Pools

There are two pools, with Michaelhouse A, Hilton College, Northwood, St Stithians, Saint John’s B and Kearsney B in Pool A, and Kearsney College A, Saint John’s A, Saint Charles, DHS, Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School and Michaelhouse B in pool B.

The action, which will take place on three courts, starts at 08:00 on Friday morning, with the last matches of the day beginning at 16:15.

On Saturday, there is another 08:00 start. After two rounds of fixtures, the final pool positions will then be determined. Then, the playoffs follow from 11:00.

The final and 3^rd and 4^th playoff will take place at 19:00 on Saturday evening.
