Competing against 18 schools from KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, DHS put together a run of five wins on the trot to lay claim to the silverware on the weekend.

Along the way, there were some very tight victories, interspersed with a number of convincing wins.

Strong start

The Horseflies opened with two solid victories, defeating Qhakaza Secondary School 3-0 and Bechet High School 2-0, to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

There, they ran into an excellent Tholokhule Secondary School outfit. It was back-and-forth, with the sides finishing regulation time level at 1-1. Then, the penalty shootout that followed went to sudden death, with the blue and gold claiming victory by a 6-5 margin.

The goal they conceded to Tholokhule turned out to be the only time their defence was pierced in the entire event.

In the semi-finals, Eshowe High School put up a good fight, but DHS ran out 1-0 winners, which qualified them for the final against Aquadene Secondary School.
