Hilton College welcomed Kearsney College to the KZN Midlands on Saturday for a packed slate of 23 football matches. Term three is here and so, too, is football season!
Kearsney enjoyed the better of the open results, including a win for the 1st XI, but Hilton were dominant at under-16 level. There were two wins, two losses and a draw for both schools in both the under-15 and under-14 age groups. Great competition!
1st team match
The 1st XI contest was a good battle between two dangerous teams. There was plenty of action in the first half, but no breakthrough for either side.
In the second half, Kearsney took the lead through a set piece shot from Chad Croshaw, but Hilton found a reply from a set piece, too. The winner, though, went the way of the Botha’s Hill boys, thanks to the very impressive grade 9 striker, Bonga Maphanga, who is still under-15.
