Six players from KZN have been named in the South African under-16 A hockey squad, and a further nine in the SA under-16 B squad after the conclusion of the Inter-provincial Hockey Tournament in Bloemfontein.

Three DHS boys – Josh Mungherera, Bhavesh Naicker and Sitchaba Siyoyo – cracked the nod for the A squad and were joined by Dane Jackson and Siwaphiwe Sithembu of Maritzburg College, and Xavier Enslin of Hilton College.

Six different KZN schools were represented in the B squad. Maritzburg College, with Brayden Thornton-Dibb and Kadin Jenkins; Clifton College, with Adrian Dippenaar and Jayden Roux; and Hilton College, with Reagan Mudau and Matthew Thomas, had two players each, while Northwood‘s Ben Loxton, Thandanani Zuma of Saint Charles College, and Christopher Abrahams of DHS were also selected.

Western Province A were crowned champions of the Under-16 IPT after defeating KZN Inland A in the final. KZN Coastal finished sixth, KZN Coastal B seventh, and KZN Inland B ninth.
