Glenwood High shared an article from the Next Gen XV website on their Facebook page on Tuesday and it is reason for the Green Machine to be proud.
The article examines which schools produce the most professional rugby players, taking into account Super Rugby, the United Rugby Championship, English Premiership Rugby, the French Top 14, and Japan Rugby League One. Six South African schools were listed among the top 20 and Glenwood was the sole representative from KwaZulu-Natal.
The top 20 list
It shouldn’t be too surprising that Grey College is top of the list, with Affies and Paarl Boys’ High in second spot alongside England’s Hartpury, who were in action at the Standard Bank Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival at the beginning of the season, where the Green Machine scored three impressive wins.

Other South African Schools in the top 20 included Paul Roos and Paarl Gim.
Predictably, the Sharks have the most Glenwood Old Boys on their books, but the Lions, too, have clearly recognised the school as a productive nursery of top rugby talent.
Glenwood pros
The Glenwood alumni listed include Nico Steyn (Lions), Jordan Hendrikse (Lions), Rynhardt Jonker (Lions), Ilunga Mukendi (Lions), Khutha Mchunu (Sharks), Kerron van Vuuren (Sharks), Jaden Hendrikse (Sharks), Zee Makhabela (Sharks), James Venter (Sharks), Fred Zeilinga (Sharks, Kwenzo Blose (Stormers), Nama Xaba (Stormers), Jaco Coetzee (Bath), and JJ van der Mescht (Stade Francais).
