Northwood welcomed Michaelhouse onto the Durban North school’s campus on Friday and Saturday to celebrate Old Boys’ Weekend with a packed fixture list of 19 rugby matches and 13 hockey games being played.
Rugby
On the rugby front, Michaelhouse continued their run of success in the open age group in 2023, winning all six of their matches, four of them comfortably, and the other two by two and three points respectively. ‘House also had the better of the under-16 fixtures.
Northwood, however, came out ahead in the under-15 games, with the A and B side contests being particularly closely contested, but they were clearly superior in the under-14 matches.
The 1st XV honours were convincingly seized by Michaelhouse, who won by 26 points.

Hockey
While Michaelhouse owned two age groups in rugby, and Northwood owned the other two, it was all about the home sides on the hockey Astro, with ‘House managing only two wins and a draw to Northwood’s 10 victories.
As has been the case throughout the season, the under-14 age group excelled for Northwood, producing four wins in four outings, although their very successful u14 A side was pushed hard by Michaelhouse before claiming a 2-1 victory.
