The results between the hosts, Pretoria Boys’ High, and Michaelhouse on Saturday, 27 May, showed two distinct biases, with ‘House dominating on the rugby field and PBHS owning the hockey Astro.
Rugby
Michaelhouse rugby teams enjoyed a clean sweep of the eight open age group and four under-16 matches, but PBHS swept the five under-15 games, while the Balgowan boys won the under-14 A match, with Pretoria winning the three remaining games in the age group.
Most impressive for ‘House, though, were those open age group results. Throughout the course of the season, Michaelhouse has demonstrated admirable quality all the way down the list of their teams, able to hold their own, against even the biggest of schools. Considering that they ran out an 8th team on Saturday, against a far larger school, that was quite an achievement.

Hockey
On the Astro, unfortunately for the Michaelhouse 1st XI, they were handed defeats by both Menlo Park and Pretoria Boys’ High. The under-16 A team fared better, beating Menlo and drawing with PBHS, while the under-14As shone, picking up wins over both.
In the lower teams, PBHS showed a clear advantage.
