Durban High School heaved with strong home support as School hosted its Founders Day, but Kearsney College supporters were out in their numbers, too, for a tantalising long list of rugby and hockey matches.
As they had done against so many others at home this season, DHS enjoyed the better of the results, especially in the A team clashes, with both their 1st rugby and 1st hockey teams winning to complete unbeaten seasons on home ground.
RUGBY
Kearsney rugby’s strength in depth showed up in the lower regions of the open age group, but the Horseflies came away with a clean slate of wins at the younger levels, although all of the under-15 and under-14 matches were hard-fought.

HOCKEY
On the blue turf of The Coliseum, the final score made it look like a straightforward win for the DHS 1st XI, but their game against Kearsney College was far from easy. It was only in the fourth chukka that the Blue Typhoon managed to break open a 1-1 draw.
The visitors were happy with a 3-3 draw against a talented DHS under-16A team, and they added another couple of wins in the age group.
In the under-14 matches, DHS, although pushed hard, emerged with a record of four wins from four games.
