Sport is so unpredictable. Even in the middle of a match, the course can change completely. That was the case on Old Orchards on Saturday, when the Saint Charles College and Northwood 1st XVs did battle.
At one stage, Saints led Northwood 24-21 but, in an astonishing turn-around, Enzo van Niekerk and his team turned up the heat in the second half to power their way to a 61-29 victory. What had been a closely contested game became a runaway 32-point win for the Knights.
The other notable result on the day was that of the under-15 A game. While Northwood were the winners, they were pushed all the way by Saint Charles, who eventually went down by just two points.

HOCKEY
The day’s biggest hockey match, between the Saint Charles and Northwood 1st teams, dished up a seven-goal feast, with the visitors coming away the winners by the odd goal. They had to come from behind, however, to grab the win, after falling behind by two goals to nil in the second chukka.
A scrappy goal brought Northwood back into the contest, and that sniff was all they needed as they staged a fine fightback to come away with the honours.
The overall results favoured the visitors from Durban, but hats off to the Saints’ under-16 D team, who recorded a handsome win over their opponents.
