Kearsney College boasts a rich pedigree in mathematics. Its results in the South African Mathematics Olympiad and in the Independent Examination Board (IEB) exams stand out as being exceptional.
Recently, learners from the school wrote the first-round of the SA Maths Olympiad, with 214 of them progressing on to the second-round, which will be written on Thursday, 11 May.
Last year, Kearsney’s average mark in maths in the IEB exams was 75 percent, with 46 percent of boys who wrote the subject achieving A aggregates. The overall IEB distinction rate was 20 points lower, at 26 percent. It was the 12th year in succession that the school has produced results roughly double the national distinction rate in the subject.
