Kearsney College 1st XV, Tries for Lives fund-raising for Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre.

16 March 2023

The Kearsney College 1st XV has made a high-scoring start to the 2023 rugby season, having few problems in finding its way over the try-line in victories over Voortrekker Bethlehem and Hentie Cilliers. And it’s not just Kearsney who are from their benefitting from their free-wheeling try-scoring ways.

The victories, by 46-7 over Voortrekker Bethlehem and 45-17 over Hentie Cilliers, will also help benefit the Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre (ECYCC) through the Tries for Lives initiative.

Tries equal funds raised

Every try that Kearsney scores will add to the funds raised for the Centre. The school is also asking its community – including parents, extended families, Old Boys, local communities and businesses – to get behind the initiative and help to improve the lives of the children at Ethelbert.

The 1st XV want to use our sporting platform for good – to improve the lives of the children cared for by the Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre through every try we score in the 2023 season.”

The Kearsney 1st XV makes its home debut on Saturday, 18 March, against Clifton. Kickoff is at 15:30.
