Saint Charles College celebrated a term of excellence on the sport’s stage by the school’s learners at the Senior School Sports Assembly on Friday, 10 March, where 10 boys received honours for their achievements.
Honours were presented to basketballers Taite Hendricks, James Wucherer, Ralf Köhne, Timothy Gentle and Naghan Watts, who were part of the team that captured the title at the Saint John’s Basketball Tournament recently.
Brendon Sunguro and Newman Nyamhuri were presented with honours for earning selection for the Zimbabwe under-19 cricket team.
Meanwhile in the water, Greg Palframan, who medalled in the Dusi Canoe Marathon, received his honours, as did Liam Searle and Nicholas Kruger, after they were chosen for the provincial swimming team.
Honours re-awards
Re-awards of honours went to basketball aces Benson Makenge, Luke Hubble, Aidan Gracie, Storm Gilchrist, Malachi Prigge and James de Villiers, while Johnathan Els was recognised for his exploits in the swimming pool.
Congratulations also went the way to a number of boys on their provincial selections in various sports:
Basketball
Under-18 A: Storm Gilchrist (MVP of the Saint John’s Basketball Tournament), Benson Makenge (Saint John’s All-Star team, too), Taite Hendricks and James Wucherer.
Under-18 B: Luke Hubble
Under-16 A: Matthew Naude
Tennis
Under-15 A: Joshua Nicholson
Squash
Ruvay Ramdhin, ranked 13 in South Africa under-16.
Swimming
Ziya Jasat, Olivier Mukaz, Johnathan Els, Nicholas Kruger, Liam Searle
