Northwood football 1st XI

10 March 2023

The Northwood 1st football team on Thursday announced a campaign to support Domino Babies Home through Sport for Lives.

Leave a legacy

The team’s aim is to leave a legacy, not only from the manner in which they perform on the field, but also from their support of a worthy cause.

On the Sport for Lives website, the Northwood 1st XI states: “We love playing soccer.

“This season we want to play for a purpose outside of ourselves. We recognise out privilege and responsibility to help those who have a hard time acquiring that which we take for granted and we’re excited to make a difference in the lives of those at the Domino Babies Home (Fairhavens).”

The team’s campaign can be supported through either one-time donations or by pledging support for each goal it scores during the season.

Domino Babies’ Home, known as “Fairhavens” is a transition home (not an orphanage) in Durban North, able to care for up to six abandoned babies and toddlers in distress, from new-borns to five-year-olds. The number of children to have benefitted from its support now numbers over 160.

The Domino Foundation

The Domino Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO) and public benefit organisation (PBO), which aspires to see individuals and communities throughout South Africa live with dignity, justice, hope and purpose.

Sport for Lives uses the power of sport to bring people together to support either individuals or communities through fund-raising campaigns.
