W100 Under-19 Final

Westville captured the title in the W100 Final, securing a victory that was, ultimately, comfortable. Since a setback against Saint Andrew’s (Bloemfontein) in the Independent Schools Cricket Festival, the talented Kearsney 1st XI has appeared a little to be a little off the boil. They’re not alone, however. Hilton College, too, saw their confidence dented after a couple of setbacks at the same festival.

The Kearsney 1st team has enjoyed an excellent season. While they didn’t capture either the Jenny Orchard Invitational or Saint John’s basketball titles, they made the semis in both, having taken on some top opposition. They were expected to beat Clifton and they did.

The 2023 season has, nonetheless, been a good one for the Clifton 1st side, who were competitive throughout, and performed significantly better than their team of the previous season.

Kearsney almost recorded a clean sweep of games, but Clifton’s 3rd team stopped the Botha’s Hill boys to capture a rewarding victory.

While the Independent Cricket Festival set Kearsney College on their heels somewhat – they won two and lost two after being unbeaten until that point in the season – it rejuvenated Clifton’s season. The Durban school lost one match, but then won three in succession in emphatic fashion in Pretoria. Against Kearsney, they continued that momentum to pick up a convincing win.

Clifton came out on top of a close under-16A contest, but Kearsney romped to victory in the duel between the two under-15A sides.
