BASKETBALL

Northwood performed strongly in the Saint John’s Basketball Tournament in competition with the best schoolboy basketball teams in South Africa, Evidently, the sport is in excellent health at the Durban North school. The 1st team finished ninth overall and notched up a number of good wins, but the Under-15 team stole the spotlight with a character-filled effort that culminated in them finishing in fourth overall. They were just one or two breaks away from competing for the title.

Northwood vs Maritzburg College

Northwood and Maritzburg College engaged in pleasingly unpredictable games throughout the day. It was only in the under-14 age group, where Northwood went five for five, that one of the schools enjoyed a distinct advantage.

In the open age group, Northwood won three to College’s two. At under-16 level, College took three wins from four, and in the under-15 age group, it was College who came out on top three to one (not including a narrow win for Northwood in the u15A clash at the Saint John’s Tournament).
