BASKETBALL
The performance of the Michaelhouse 1st team spoke volumes about the importance of getting away to a good start, but two defeats, both by two points, undermined the team’s challenge at the 18th Saint John’s College Basketball Tournament. It was hard to come back from there.
The under-15 team had a better tournament, finishing in eight overall. It was, however, a case of what might have been. The team lost four matches, three of them were decided by one point, three points and one point. Still, an encouraging showing for the boys from Balgowan.

CRICKET
The Michaelhouse 1st XI had mixed results at the Independent Schools Festival, but the under-15 team recorded two big victories over top Johannesburg schools, downing Saint Stithian’s and Saint John’s.
Matches between Michaelhouse and DHS were very evenly contested. The DHS under-16A team continued a very impressive season with another easy win, and DHS also came out on top in the under-14 match, but Michaelhouse sneaked a win in the closest game of the day, that between the two u15B teams.
