BASKETBALL
Saint John’s Basketball Tournament
Clifton’s 1st team began with a very tough outing against a Saint David’s Marist Inanda team that would beat Saint Charles, but then lose to the Pietermaritzburg school in the final. And while a fair number of results went against Clifton, what was not in question was the team’s competitiveness in all of their games, and their huge improvement since 2022.
The under-15 team had a rough opener against Northwood, but later found their way once the playoff positions were determined and they were in action against sides of similar strength.

Clifton vs Hilton
There’s something brewing in the Midlands, and we’re not talking about the Nottingham Road Brewing Company. Basketball at Hilton College is on a steep ascent, and it really showed in their results against Clifton. Hilton’s under-14B team also achieved the rare distinction, at schoolboy level, of breeching triple figures.

WATER POLO
It was a battle between the two best teams in KwaZulu-Natal when the Clifton and Hilton 1st water polo teams engaged in a real arm-wrestle. In the end, it ended level. Remarkably, so did the 2nd team game, the under-15Bs and the under-14Bs. Much like their basketball programme, Hilton’s water polo is rapidly growing in stature. Clifton, meanwhile, remains the steadiest, most reliable KZN school to achieve excellent results in the water polo pool.
